New traffic fines start in California


1. Car pool lane — First time $1,068.50 starting July 1, 2008. the $271 posted on the highway is out of date. Don’t do it again because the second time is going to be double, third time triple and fourth time license suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change — $380. Don’t change lane on solid lines or at intersections.

3. Blocked intersection — $485.

4. Driving on the shoulder — $450

5. Cell phone use in the construction zone — double fine (twice $285) as of July 1, 2008.

6. Passengers over 18 not wearing seatbelts — passenger AND driver get tickets.

7. Speeders — Allowance is only 3 mph over the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL — And it stays on your driving record for 10 years.

9. As of July 1, 2008, cell phone use must be hands-free while driving. Fine is $285. Law enforcement will be watching closely for the easy money.
