Scum rob convenience store, kill clerk
Authorities are investigating a robbery and shooting that left one person dead and another injured early Saturday in the city of Lemon Grove on the outskirts of San Diego, California.
According to reports, one suspect waited outside the front door of the 7-Eleven at 7607 Broadway shortly after 2 a.m. while a second suspect, armed with a sawn-off rifle, entered the business and shot a customer and the clerk.
"He was armed with a sawed off rifle. (He) shot the customer (and) shot the clerk," Lt. Dennis Burgos said. Police said the customer was getting coffee when he was shot.
The injured customer ran from the business and called 911. The clerk was taken to a hospital where he died. A third customer hid in a freezer and was not injured.
The suspect who entered the store is described as a white male in his twenties and wearing a hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect also wore a hooded sweatshirt. They were last seen leaving the area in a black or dark Dodge Neon.
Crimestoppers and 7 Eleven are both offering awards for information. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department at (858) 565-5200.
